Auckland Art Fair 2016

New Zealand’s premier showcase for contemporary art – Auckland Art Fair, will return in 2016 with a stellar line up of both local and international talent confirmed.

The 2016 edition heralds a shift in focus to contemporary art of the wider Pacific region, including artists and galleries not only from NZ and Australia, but also Latin America and the Pacific Islands, aiming to establish the fair as an important event in the cultural calendar.

New owners North Port Events have appointed two experienced co-directors, Stephanie Post and Hayley White, to lead the Auckland Art Fair team. The duo is adding a refreshed, more premium focus to the 2016 event, seeking to operate at the level of the very best fairs in the world and attract an audience of international and local visitors.

Amongst a range of exciting new initiatives is the involvement of internationally acclaimed chef Peter Gordon of Auckland’s Sugar Club and The Providores and Tapa Room in London. Gordon is curating all culinary offerings at the fair, including four pop-up eateries to tempt every palate.

A Bellota-style bar on the ground floor nestled amongst the galleries will serve Spanish tapas such as antipasti, cheeses and cured meats.

A Coromandel-meets-Federal St inspired oyster shack+bar will serve a variety of oysters, smoked salmon, Champagne Laurent Perrier and Catalina Sounds sauvignon blanc.

C’AAF, a cleverly named lunch bar (Café @ Auckland Art Fair), will serve seasonal salads, themed in a shabby-chic style along with some old fashioned favourites.

Savour, the main restaurant on the upper mezzanine level of The Cloud, will pair Peter’s signature fusion style meals with stunning views overlooking the Waitemata Harbour.

The Auckland Art Fair is a must-see for both seasoned art aficionados and budding first-time buyers, with the breadth of galleries exhibiting set to create a versatile experience for every palate.
