For us at MR TOMS, our bartenders have plenty of interaction with our customers so we like to have well presented, infectious personalities in an enjoyable style with good product knowledge to offer our guests a new experience or added value for money when ordering a local favourite.
Your favourite cocktail?
A Negroni. Sometimes I forget about this drink, so when I’m in the moment and out with friends it gets me pretty excited when I know one is on the way.
Do you have a vegetarian option on the menu?
Yes, we have a good few. My current favourite is a bit cliche as it’s vegetarian but it’s a pizza of smoked mushroom, truffle and bocconcini. It’s tough to beat hand-rolled bases to order!
How do you make winter nights more welcoming?
Inside, we have beautiful comfy bespoke booth seating with cushions on every seat and stool. An added touch of heat comes naturally from the the open kitchen. Outside, we have a heated al fresco space on Ponsonby Road that catches the afternoon sun, is heated, and has blankets for those that don’t dress accordingly.
Your favourite dish on the menu?
I’d currently have to go with the Miso Glazed Market Fish, Cloudy Bay Clams, Bok Choy, Crispy Leeks and Sweet Potato.
