Smiles for Miles: NZ Sidecar Tours launches in Auckland

Locals and visitors to Auckland will soon have a new way to see the City of Sails, as NZ Sidecar Tours sets off on its maiden voyage this month.
Certified tour driver and co-owner Damian Woolfall delights in taking passengers to littleknown pockets of Auckland in New Zealand’s only two-person commercially touring sidecar andlatemodel Royal Enfield. For some, this is a chance to happily tick an item off the bucket list, while for others, it brings a sense of nostalgia, says Damian.
“Auckland has a lot of hidden gems and our tours seek to capture spots that are not widely known. The sidecar was commonplace before the motorway was built. We deliver an experience that captures this bygone era.”

  1. Because my awesome dad is very nice, caring and so supportive. His personality is really amazing. He really loves travelling and such very fun and enjoyable experiences. He definitely deserves this fabulous prize and will love and enjoy this wonderful experience very much.

  2. There’s nothing like being on a motorbike to appreciate the scenery at a leisurely pace. In 1973 I paid £80.00 for a 1969 Bantam, 175cc motorbike. I travelled 3,425 miles from Edinburgh to Athens. I travelled through Scotland, England, France, Switzerland, Italy to Greece. In 1974 I did the return journey.

Now aged 74 I know I would enjoy being in a sidecar. Going at a moderate speed where I could take in all the scenery, farms, the river and destination the Riverhead and tavern.

Both my dad and my step father have died so I am making this request for a Royal Enfield sidecar ride for myself.

  3. His own dad used to work on motorbikes and even race sidecars at speedway all those years ago. As a youngster, he always helped his dad fix the bikes, and constantly yearns after a ride on an old classic (especially now he is one himself!). A classic sidecar tour would be even more amazing. The perfect amount of nostalgia and new experience. And more than perfect for a guy who is a great dad but asks for nothing…

  4. My Dad has spent the past five years caring for his wife as she has early onset Alzheimer’s. Even though she is now in a care facility, he still visits every evening to hand feed her dinner and change her into her PJs. He never does anything for himself and I feel that this sidecar prize would be the perfect excuse for him to enjoy himself.

  5. After shifting back to Auckland from Melbourne after 5 years, We have been trying to convince my parents to come up from Taranaki to visit us – if Dad had this prize as incentive it would surely give him plenty of motivation to finally visit his (pregnant!) daughter 😀

  6. My hubby Wayne is mad keen on all petrol driven forms of transport & he’s supported me for the past 3 years while I retrained ~ he took on a lot of responsibility looking after our household, kids & cats so I could qualify in an area I’m passionate about. He’d be in his element enjoying this experience & its his birthday in October too!

  7. I feel like people treat fathers day as a bit of an afterthought, and I know my dad has been on the receiving end of great presents like socks, underwear etc before .. or if hes lucky some fishing gear! But I think this fathers day now that 3 of his 4 kids have moved away from home he deserves an experience, and I know he would really appreciate something unique like this!
