Swim Good

In typical scavenger style Laurent designed the pool house around a find of large, industrial scale wooden window frames. Inside it is part pool house and part showroom for finds from his travels including quilts and fabrics from India and Kenya.

From the top terrace on which the house is situated, the view down to the pool area also extends beyond it to take in the Mediterranean Sea below. Local craftsman Pedro Casanovas created the olive-wood balustrade and the bamboo pool lounger is from Tine K Home.

Inspired by the architecture of barns, the home’s design includes a silo into which the master bedroom and upstairs office fit. The swimming-pool blue stands out amidst the greenery of cloud-form hedging and the verdant mountain landscape beyond.

The outdoor living and pool area has been given a leafy canopy of erythrina trees, creating shade for a set of table and chairs from Plaisir d’Jardin in Constantia, Cape Town.
