Experience Winter at Te Puia

This winter, Te Puia invites visitors to experience a curated collection of events that highlight kai, culture and the Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley.

From April to August, the valley comes alive with seasonal experiences that blend tradition with creativity.

The season begins on Easter weekend with the return of Te Puia’s popular Sunday Brunch. From 3 -5 April and then every Sunday until 27 September, guests can relax with a carefully crafted buffet overlooking the world famous Pōhutu Geyser. The offering includes brunch classics alongside signature dishes such as fresh seafood boil, sticky pork ribs, handmade dumplings and warm rēwena bread. It is the perfect way to slow down and savour a Rotorua favourite.

Mārama: Geyser Light Trail reopens 26 July with an enriched nighttime experience. Amplified lighting, Māori soundscapes, art and storytelling transform the geothermal valley into a luminous outdoor journey. Guests can explore the valley after dark and see its natural features illuminated in a spectacular new way.

From 3 July, the highly anticipated 6-Course Degustation returns every Friday night until 28 August. Executive Chef Shane Beattie presents a seasonal menu that celebrates locally sourced ingredients and the unique geothermal landscape that inspires Te Puia’s cuisine.

Te Puia will also host two special events on 10 July to mark Matariki. The morning begins with a Hautapu ceremony, followed by a full day dedicated to whānau, remembrance and renewal in honour of the Māori New Year.

This winter is the ideal time to reconnect, experience and celebrate at Te Puia.
