An Easy Drive
Quail Lodge is an easy 40-minute drive from the city or 30 minutes from the airport (in non-peak hours). Upon arrival, you’ll be transported to a place of instant serenity as you’re greeted with a complimentary glass of bubbles, which you might choose to sip while unwinding on your private deck as you take a moment to admire the sweeping 180-degree view.
Luxury Accommodation
The private lodge is a home away from home with its own entrance and parking along with two spacious bedrooms, an elegant lounge with a 43-inch television featuring Freeview and Netflix, and a chic kitchenette complete with a Nespresso machine. The Queen bedroom has all of Auckland at its feet, overlooking the Awhitu Peninsula, Manukau Harbour and Heads, Rangitoto and the Sky Tower. The second bedroom boasts beautiful bush and rural views, and both feature top of the line linen, while the bathroom is stocked with beautiful toiletries, created in Blenheim.
Dining
Quail Lodge serves gourmet breakfasts in your lodge or on your deck, comprising the best seasonal produce and free range eggs from the area. If you’d prefer to hide away from the world, a sumptuous dinner can also be served, or the beautiful Bracu Restaurant—set in the the groves of Simunovich Olive Estate—is a short drive away.
The Gardens
There’s a stunning infinity pool and two-acre garden lush with apples, plums, feijoas, avocados and citrus fruit (depending on the season) to pick and nibble on. Indeed, if all you want to do is stay at Quail Lodge rather than venture forth to explore the surrounding regions, it caters to all your wants so well, why would you want to leave?
Your Hosts
Hosts Samantha and Hamish were living in St Heliers when they discovered the property in 2018. For Sam, it offered the opportunity to fulfil her long-held dream of providing luxury, boutique accommodation. “I love to cook and I have always loved looking after people and giving them a great time so it’s time to play to my strengths,” she says. “We also offer facials and massage in-house as well as a limousine service. And though we’re not a wedding venue, we can cater to very small intimate weddings and formal dinner parties.”
Location
Quail Lodge offers ease, relaxation and escape. However, if you’re more action-orientated, it’s handy to the New Zealand Bloodstock Centre in Karaka, Hampton Downs Motorsport Park, the quaint village of Clevedon with its fabulous Sunday Farmers’ Market and Polo, and sits at the gateway to the south and Coromandel Peninsula, Rotorua, Taupō, Raglan and Waitomo Caves.
