Art Lovers’ Films: Kusama – Infinity

Join the Auckland Art Gallery and Rialto Cinemas for an advanced screening of Kusama – Infinity, a film about 89 year old artist Yayoi Kusama who had an installation at the gallery earlier this year. Kusama is the world’s top-selling female artist, she overcame sexism, racism and mental illness to bring her radical artistic vision to the world stage. Propelled by a psychological need to make art for her own survival, Yayoi Kusama’s extraordinary career has traversed highs and deep lows. Widely known for her polka dot covered realities and Infinity Mirror Rooms, she also staged public political happenings as well as gate-crashing the Venice Biennale with an uninvited outdoor work. 

Tickets to the film include an introduction to
the artist and her work by art historian Linda Tyler, Associate Professor in Museums and Cultural Heritage at the University of Auckland, a glass of wine and goodie bag.

Crushes Presents a Learn To Hem Workshop

A skill to be passed down and one that will remain valuable for a lifetime, Learn To Hem will teach you the very basic of altering your soon to be favourite clothes. In the workshop where you will learn how to bring up the hem on either pants, skirts or dresses. Bring your own clothing to do this to or practise on some of Crushes very own vintage clothing. All materials are included in the ticket price plus 10% off anything in store that you purchase on the day. 


Waiheke Garden Festival

Waiheke Garden Festival has been delighting Island residents and visitors alike since 2001 and all benefitting the Jassy Dean Trust, a Waiheke children’s charity. It is still a must-see, self-drive or cycle event for gardeners and island visitors with gardening workshops in the gardens this year. Ticket buyers get exclusive access to Waiheke Island’s most interesting gardens while supporting the Jassy Dean Trust. The Trust has been supporting Waiheke families with sick children for the last 25 years.
