Just a one hour flight or a road trip away, the Sarjeant Gallery has emerged as one of New Zealand’s most compelling art destinations, following a landmark redevelopment that seamlessly blends its celebrated heritage architecture with striking contemporary co-design.

Home to a nationally significant collection of more than 8,000 works, the Sarjeant Gallery presents an ambitious programme of exhibitions and events that bring together some of the country’s most exciting creative voices. From 7 November until 23 May 2027, Sarjeant Gallery visitors can experience Ināianei  | Current, featuring six contemporary practitioners from the Whanganui region whose work captures the richness, diversity and energy of artistic practice in Aotearoa today, developed with exhibition partner Craigs Investment Partners. Also on show, the Mark Adams photographic survey exhibition developed and toured by Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki (14 November 2026 – 4 April 2027) and several collection shows.
