Commonsense Opens In Milford

It’s been a momentous year for the Commonsense team, who recently celebrated their 30th Birthday! This milestone is a tribute to the dedicated efforts of founders Jim Kebbell and Marion Wood, who earlier this year were jointly awarded the NZ Order of Merit for Services to Sustainable Business. Commonsense has five stores across Wellington and Mt Eden Auckland, and are delighted to announce the opening of their sixth store at 137 Kitchener Road in Milford in December!

Covid-19 restrictions have made for some logistical challenges, with delays on deliveries, construction and their senior team, based in Wellington, who were unable to attend the set up and opening of their brand new store. In spite of the challenges, the dedicated team on the ground will see the store open in on 2nd December, just in time for customers to stock up on their summer and festive season essentials.

Speaking on the Milford store opening, Commonsense director Lucy Kebbell says, “It’s been touch and go, with lockdown throwing us a major curve ball in the set up phase, but we’re back on track and couldn’t be more excited! As a family business it can be tricky opening store locations away from our Wellington home but there has been a real demand from our customers for us to have more of a presence in Auckland and it’s our mission to bring ethical shopping to as many people as we can.”

Several of the Commonsense Mt Eden team have transferred to Milford, including the store manager, Donna Evans who is looking forward to the challenge of a brand new store. The Mt Eden store, which is now a well established part of the local community, remains in good hands with Teuila Field taking over as store manager.
