Espresso Martini Recipe

from Coffee Creations

People go crazy for Espresso Martinis. Some people who don’t even like coffee LOVE these cocktails.

Why wouldn’t they? They’re sweet but balanced and have a kick that makes them fun! It’s hard not to get excited about an Espresso Martini. If you are hosting or going to a dinner party, you can extract some espresso earlier in the day and store it in the refrigerator ready for cocktail hour. Generally, you’ll need to extract 30ml of espresso per cocktail. If it is hot, add it to the shaker first to allow it to cool with the ice. This recipe makes one cocktail.

Ingredients:

  • Ice cubes
  • 1 double shot of espresso
  • 50ml vodka
  • 30ml coffee liqueur
  • 15ml Simple Syrup
  • 3 coffee beans, to garnish

Method:

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, add the coffee, then add the vodka, coffee liqueur

and syrup. Shake very vigorously to make

sure you get a thick foam on top. Strain into a glass and garnish with the quintessential 3 coffee beans on the thick foam.

Some fun variations on the classic…

Chilli Espresso Martini:

Add 1 small, or  ½ a large, chopped red chilli to the shaker with the other ingredients and strain out with the ice. Garnish with slices of fresh red chilli, rim the glass with chilli powder or flakes, or add a whole chilli to the edge of the glass for extra flair.

Vanilla & Apple Brandy Espresso Martini:

Substitute the vodka with apple or cider brandy and add a drop of vanilla extract. Garnish with apple slices and a dusting of ground cinnamon.

Rum & Lime Espresso Martini:

Add ½ teaspoon of ground cardamom and 15ml lime juice. Substitute the vodka with spiced rum, such as Captain Morgan. Garnish with a dusting of ground cardamom or cardamom seeds.
