Korean Skincare – Tips for a Wrinkle-Free Skin

Korean women really know what they’re doing when it comes to timeless beauty. In an era of concealing and correcting with heavy makeup, their focus on healthy, glowing skin is incredibly refreshing.

That’s not to say that a little concealer can’t be your best friend at times. But let’s face it. Your makeup will never look amazing unless the canvas you’re starting with also looks and feels amazing!

It may surprise you to hear that snail mucin, roots, and other out-of-the-box treatments are the Korean secrets to wrinkle-free skin. Here are 5 Korean skincare tips to help you combat wrinkles and restore your glow!

Don’t be afraid to try something new.

Although Korean skincare has a strong foundation in traditions that have been handed down through generations, Korean women are all about experimenting and innovation, especially when it comes to beauty.

For example, some get Botox for crow’s feet and preventing forehead wrinkles. Why? Because it’s backed by science. It works by targeting and relaxing the muscles we use to make facial expressions, diminishing lines before they even have a chance to become static wrinkles.

In fact, just about any new and interesting skincare treatment the beauty community is talking about has its origins in Korea. From the rise in clean and sustainable beauty to hyper-personalized skincare, K-beauty is all about technology, innovation, and being the first to try something new.

Follow the 10-Second Rule

The ten-second rule is a standby for many K-pop stars. Basically, you apply your toner and moisturizer within 10 seconds of cleansing your face. It may sound a little gimmicking… but it actually makes a lot of sense when you really think about it.

When you cleanse your face, the warm water opens up your pores. And when your pores are open, they’re primed and ready to absorb your skincare treatments. Your treatments will work much more efficiently this way – giving you that plump, youthful, wrinkle-free skin we all crave!

Cleanse Twice

It’s not just about makeup. As we go about our day, our skin is exposed to all sorts of environmental toxins and pollutants that can prematurely age the skin. Double cleansing is the best way to get rid of the pore-clogging dirt, oil, makeup, and pollution that make the skin look dull and lifeless.

And if you’re worried about drying out your skin, think again. This method starts with a cleansing oil to nurture the skin while melting away oil and makeup without the scrubbing or tugging that can cause wrinkles. Follow up with a water-based cleanser formulated for your skin type and you’re good to go.

Try Facial Massage

Just like your body needs movement to stay healthy, so does your skin. Korean ladies use facial massage to promote circulation and bring oxygen and nutrients to the skin’s surface. It’s an amazing way to boost skin’s radiance and combat fine lines and wrinkles.

Start with a dab of your favorite facial oil or moisturizer. You can add a bit of your favorite serum for an extra boost. Apply it in upward, outward, circular, and tapping motions starting at the center of your face.

You can apply pressure with your fingertips to your temples and between the eyes to relax away tension. It’s a wonderful way to start or end your day and get your skin uber hydrated, glowing, and baby smooth.

Incorporate Ginseng

Ginseng root has been a health and beauty staple in Korea for hundreds of years. This natural antioxidant is amazing for preventing wrinkles and other signs of aging. It also boosts circulation, promoting a bright, healthy complexion and banishing puffiness.

Ginseng is also anti-inflammatory, so it’s great for reducing redness. From sheet masks to moisturizers, there are tons of ways to incorporate it into your routine.

Wrapping It Up… Don’t Forget the Snail Slime

You’re probably well aware of the “snail slime” trend in Korean skincare. We admit it takes some getting used to, but we promise it’s worth the hype. Snail mucin is full of amazing goodies for your skin, including peptides, glycolic acid, and hyaluronic acid.

It’s an amazing hydrator that reduces fine lines, wrinkles, and promotes healing. Don’t worry the snails are not harmed when their mucus is gathered! And you don’t need to splurge on a $400 “Escargot Facial” to get the effects. Snail mucin sheet masks are affordable, easily accessible, and very effective!
