The Hollywood Avondale is a boutique single screen cinema owned and operated by cinephiles.
Every week they play a curated mix of movies old and new, from classic favourites and undiscovered gems to the latest indie fare. The Hollywood offers both digital and 35mm film presentation, housing the largest collection of 35mm and 16mm film in the southern hemisphere. The gorgeous art deco building is also a live music and theatre venue. Since 1915, The Hollywood has been a significant landmark of Avondale village and continues to be an amazing social hub of the community.
Off the back of the success of its lockdown merchandise campaign, The Hollywood is unveiling a unique new series of boot-style t-shirts paying homage to some of their favourite movies. Made with hand-mixed Pantone inks screened onto Custom Colors cotton tees, this is an extremely limited run with only 30 of each style in existence… once they’re gone, they’re gone forever.

Francois Truffaut’s taut, transcendent masterpiece forever altered the landscape of film. We’ve had this in mind since our Paul Schrader fest earlier in the year because Pickpocket inspired Schrader’s entire career and continues to inform his work half a century later.

This is either a 2003 documentary about Los Angeles on film, or it’s an infamous piece of 70s art-porn preserved by MoMA. Or both.
