Avène Dermatological Laboratories

The global pandemic, while challenging in different ways for each of us, has also given us time to stop and to reflect, to see what we’ve been doing well, and what changes we might make for our future selves.

As we consider changes to our Beauty routine, the sensitive skincare specialists at Avène Dermatological Laboratories sent us four of their most coveted products for the Verve team to try. What we love most, is that from the Thermal Spring Water to the Gentle Cleanser, these products give you the ability to treat yourself without having to book out 60 minutes of your day. Read on to hear our thoughts!

Thermal Spring Water

This product is the embodiment of the Avène brand, bottling up its finest ingredient and making it a spray, easy to use and always accessible.

Recently, the weather has provided the penultimate in humidity, with the hottest temperatures in March to date. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that this has left my skin feeling oil and desperate for hydration. I popped the Thermal Spring Water spray into my bag and took it with me on my daily travels through the city, and whenever I needed a boost of nourishment, a quick spray did the trick.

Gentle, hassle-free, and suitable for all skin types, this spray is a must in your skincare regime.

Extremely Gentle Cleanser

Too often, trialing out new cleansers leaves my skin feeling dry and depleted. Avène’s extremely gentle cleanser left my skin feeling clean, supple and hydrated.

The cleanser contains an ingredient called ‘Parcerine,’ an active that reduces skin reactivity. This ingredient, mixed with the healing properties of the Thermal Spring Water, helps in calming and soothing irritation, making it a great choice for people with more sensitive or blemish-prone skin.

We also love the rinse-free aspect, making our skincare regime that much quicker.

Gentle Toning Lotion

If you’re looking for a kind-on-your-skin toner, this one is for you.

Its alcohol-free formula leaves your skin feeling clean, without stripping it of its natural and nourishing oils. Again, the spring water works to soothe and comfort irritated skin, and the silicates provide a barrier of protection, which then protects your skin throughout the day, and for days to come if upkept.

Anti-Blemish Concentrate

With the dreaded maskne getting the better of my skin this season, this product was the one I was most excited to try out.

This highly-concentrated and fast-acting formula provides the benefits of a clinical session, without the 60-90 minute time needed to set aside. Ingredients include ComedoclastinTM, a plant-based, active ingredient, made from milk thistle oil. It aids in reducing and limiting the reappearance of blemishes by restoring the skins balance. The silica in this product works as tiny sebum-absorbing beads which regulates the hyperproduction of sebum production underneath your skin. Its formula is a light gel, made to be absorbed quickly and adapted specifically for oily skin, meaning that this product is suitable for all skin types.

I have been applying this twice a day as directed, and in just seven days I noticed a decline in my redness, as well as my skins irritability. This will stay as an integral part in my skincare regime.

Overall, it’s safe to say that these four products will stay in my bag of skincare, ready for use morning and night. Although it’s only been seven days, I can already see that my skin is reaping the benefits and using them in conjunction has certainly elevated their results.
